The Power of a Mandala!

Painting mandalas has been one of my greatest teachers. It has taught me to takes risks, be forgiving of my mistakes, and love what I create. Even though I've always loved art, I had gone over a decade without feeding the artistic drive. Now that I've started, I don't want to stop. It is a reminder that just like the apple tree, we will continue to create. My artwork reminds me to return to my creative feminine flow!

The meaning of mandala is "sacred circle", which has the power to awaken healing powers. Since mandalas embody geometric shapes, our mind creates symbolic meaning in relation to our universe, which in the Taoist belief, is a reflection of everything within ourselves.

So what significance does the Spirit Quest mandala have?

This mandala tells the story of how Spirit Quest, our full day experience in Malibu, came to be. It starts with the seed of life at the center point, representing the beginning of creation.

It is surrounded with colorful dots to represent the gathering of the rainbow warrior tribe, reflecting the different cultures of our community of people who want to bring about peace, awareness, and higher consciousness into our society.

The purple lotus surrounded in brown reminds us of the expansion and awakening of our souls, and a reminder that even lotus flowers grow from muddy waters.

Four of the lotus petals represent the blessing of the four cardinal directions, a Native American tradition which acknowledges that we are connected to everything in nature.

The rainbow serpent represents the Aboriginal creator deity, but also signifies the coiled serpentine energy in our bodies,which can be awakened with Kundalini yoga practices.

The Incan cross with the Chumash art patterns represent the uniting of the indigenous people. The birds stand for the Eagle and Condor, which is the Amazonian Prophecy explaining of the merging of the North and South, the masculine and feminine.

This powerful experience is held on the Malibu Orchards which is an organic Meyer lemon farm which is represented by the lemon trees, and soon to be planted coffee trees.

A Goddess is...

Men squares and women circles are something Michael and I have gotten involved with in the last year and it has had a tremendous impact on our relationship. Every relationship will have trials and tribulations which is why we have realized the importance of men supporting men and women supporting women through life experiences, which is all part of the wellness. As a woman, I am learning how to tap into that inner power and guidance by feeding and nurturing that goddess within. Whether it is through yoga, massage, soaking in a spa, movement, plant based foods or being in nature, the self-care is such an essential to keeping the glow alive.

While traveling through Thailand in 2013, I randomly came across this reading in, of all places, a toilet stall. It's a powerful read that is constant reminder of what goddess means in this day and age.

This goes out to all the woman in the world! Mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends, cousins, to all the woman who came before us and the woman who will come to be....may you find the goddess within!

She is fiercely sensual and fearlessly erotic and engages in sex as her way to share another in touching the divine. She is compassion and wisdom. She is seeker of truth and cares deeply about something bigger than herself. She is a woman who knows that her purpose in life is to reach higher and rule with love. She is a woman in love with love. She knows that joy is her destiny and embraces and shares it with others to heal wounds. She is a woman who has come to know her partner is as tender, lost and frightened as she has been at times. She has come to understand the scars of the boy in him and knows that together, love can be the relief, the healing of their wounds.

She is a woman who can accept herself as she is. She can accept another as they are. She is able to forgive her mistakes and not feel threatened by another's, even when attacked. She is a woman who can ask for help or give it when asked. She respects boundaries, hers and anothers. She can see God in another's eyes. She can see God in her own. She can see God in every situation. She is a woman who takes responsibility for everything she creates in her life. She is a woman who is totally supportive and giving. She is a goddess..."
